Thirty-plus years ago the wine consuming world caught on to the Rhone Valley and discovered the immense value being offered from it’s world-class producers.  Here we are, decades later and they remain a source of seriously satisfying wines for a pittance. 

Domaine de la Solitude perfectly represents this Rhone’s claim for overdelivering.  Eight generations of the Lancon Family in Chateauneuf-du-Pape have afforded them a know-how that can only be gained in the vineyards & winemaking rooms.   Florent Lancon now helms the operation and to no surprise, he’s making some impressive wines with classic character worthy of the Solitude crest.

The 2022 La Solitude Cotes du Rhone has recently landed to our stores and quite frankly, it’s everything you want in this appellation.  A blend of equal parts Grenache & Syrah with a splash of Mourvedre – this is an excellent wine no matter the time of year and particularly handy in Spring.  If you’ve already started grilling or still enjoying savory soups, Solitude’s cote du Rhone is an excellent match.
