Flor de Jerez

This week we share with you a low alcohol drink that is easy on the proof without being the slightest bit shy of character.  From the Death & Co.  Modern Cocktail book we bring you the Flor de Jerez.  It combines the nutty characters of Amontillado Sherry with a scant measure of dark rum to the fruity sweetness of Apricot liqueur.  The measured proportions of each component blend in perfect harmony to create a cocktail that will keep you coming back for more.  Important to the drinks character is the quality of ingredient that go into it.  While we don’t write the brands in stone, we do suggest selecting premium spirits for the best outcome.  

Flor de Jerez

In a shaker glass filled with ice add:

• 1/2 Ounce Dark Rum (we use Plantation Dark)
• 1 1/2 Ounces Dry Amontillado Sherry (Lustau please)
• 1/4 Ounce Apricot Liqueur (Giffard or Rothman Winter)
• 3/4 Ounce Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice
• 1/2 Ounce Simple Syrup
• 1 Dash Angostura Bitters

Shake well then strain into a stemmed cocktail glass (chilled) .  No garnish, no frills.  The ingredients speak for themselves.
