You’re going to Love this wine …
We love discovering a new favorite, especially in old parts of the world. The Rhone Valley has long been a bastion of great values … particularly in the South. While Chateauneuf du Pape will always be the crown jewel … there’s a much to be explored just outside of this famed zone. Our most recent find has a truly amazing story.
The name Jean Royer has been circling through the industry for quite some time. Earning great praise from critics & writers for his remarkable wines at shockingly great prices. But why? The Royer Family has been in the Rhone valley for several generations, yet when Jean’s Father passed away at an early age … his mother decided to lease the vineyards rather than tend them. Giving her an opportunity to focus on her family and provide a steady income. Jean came into his own studying winemaking & viticulture. Eventually he was able to take over his Family’s land as leases expired. With just fifteen acres of land to his name … he is the poster child of small lot winemaking.
As you would expect, Jean Royer crafts beautiful Chateauneuf du Pape … but we’re thrilled to introduce to you his Le Petit Roy. A stunning example of a winemaker overachieving, this wine is a blend from three sources, including tanks of his declassified Chateauneuf. And trust us … this wine drinks like it. |
