Calvados Side Car

It is apple season and we always keep a bottle of Calvados or Apple Brandy around the house for sipping or for when cocktail inspiration strikes.  We prefer French Calvados for both sipping and mixing, but also keep a bottle of Laird’s Applejack (at half the price) around for mixing and mulled cider.  Both are a great addition to the bar for fall cocktails.  Today we offer a simple variation on the classic Sidecar swapping out the Cognac for Calvados.  To accent the apple characters in the drink we serve it in a cinnamon-sugar rimmed glass.  For this cocktail, we prefer using Calvados over Laird’s but have enjoyed the drink made with either.

Calvados Side Car

In a shaker glass filled with ice add:

• 2 Ounces of Good Quality Calvados
• ½ Ounce Cointreau
• ½ Ounce Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice

Shake and Strain into a Cinnamon-Sugar Rimmed Martini Saucer.  Garnish with an Orange Twist.
